CONSTITUTION of the IEEE SB at CTU in Prague

Name and Purpose

Sec. 1 This organization shall be known as the IEEE Student Branch at the Czech Technical University in Prague or IEEE SB at CTU.

Sec. 2 The purpose shall be the dissemination of knowledge of the theory and practice of all aspects of electrical engineering, electronics, informatics radio, allied branches of engineering or the related arts and sciences, as well as the furtherance of the professional development of the Students.

Sec. 3 The organization and operation of the Branch shall be in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the IEEE.

Membership

Sec. 4 Members of the IEEE SB at CTU are students of the Czech Technical University in Prague. The SB committee can adopt a student from other university in the IEEE Czechoslovakia Section as an associate member.

Sec. 5 The member and the associate member must be an IEEE Student member.

Sec. 6 The associate member cannot hold the office of the SB Chair. Other rights and obligations are the same as the rights and obligations of a regular member.

Dues

Sec. 7 There are no extra payments connected with the membership in the IEEE SB at CTU.

Officers

Sec. 8 The officers of the Branch are a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, a Treasurer, and a Secretary.

Sec. 9 To be eligible for office, a candidate must be enrolled as a Student member of the IEEE and a member in good standing in the local Branch.

Sec. 10 The term of office is ordinarily for one year.

Sec. 11 The office is held by an officer until his/her office is taken by an elected successor or he/she resigns.

Executive Committee

Sec. 12 The management of the affairs of the Branch is in the hands of the Executive Committee, consisting of the officers of the Branch and the Counselor appointed by the IEEE. The Chairman of the Branch is the Chairman of the Executive Committee.

Duties of Officers

Sec. 13 The Chairman represents the Branch. He/she is responsible for the coordination, planning of all SB activities and performing all the executive duties not otherwise delegated.

Sec. 14 The Vice-Chairman performs all functions of the Chairman in the latter's absence or at his/her request. The Vice-Chairman should be from different faculty of the CTU and also from different IEEE society.

Sec. 15 The Branch Secretary shall keep a record of all activities of the Branch and shall report same to IEEE Headquarters, together with any special reports required by IEEE Headquarters, within a reasonable time after each meeting. The secretary shall carry on all other communications necessary to the activities of the Branch. The secretary shall keep a record of the names of members in attendance at the meetings. The organization of elections is also the responsibility of the SB Secretary. The SB Secretary position may be linked to the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman position.

Sec. 16 The Treasurer shall receive all money and pay all debts of the Branch authorized by the Executive Committee, and shall keep an exact account of all receipts and expenditures. The SB Treasurer position may be linked to the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman position.

Sec. 17 A complete annual report shall be submitted by the Chairman and the Treasurer at the last regular meeting of the year, and shall be forwarded by the Branch Secretary to the IEEE Manager of Student Services, upon certification by the Counselor.

Amendments

Sec. 18 The Branch is empowered to adopt Bylaws which are consistent with this Constitution.

Sec. 19 The Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds of the members of the Branch present and voting and the amendment have been made available to all members of the SB and adequate effort was expended in informing members at least one week prior to the vote.
